i garden because for years and years i dreamed of having a garden… all the years in manhattan and park slope where i tried valiantly with 8×10 of the front of the brownstone on a very busy street. (lost lots of flowers to passers by).
my current garden is really my first – its bigger than that brownstone front yard but still small – the backyard behind a four apt house. but its the first REAL garden.
why am i gardening in a rental ? for sanity for one (major life change during the first year). and love of gardening for the other – this is the third year and finally after two painful years of hardscaping for the first time this year its about the plants – lots of things are SHOOTING up out of the ground – its the LEAP year of that old saying and its fun and rewarding to see all that hard work paying off – and to be able to focus on whats not working and what to add – lots of plant sales this week!
i do have to say that having this garden was a life saver for me and continues to daily give back … and who cares if my landlord thinks i am an a-one nut!
