Inspired by words on this forum, I seem to have butchered a couple of (admittedly not too attractive to begin with) Weigela. Or do they just grow funny? I cut them back about halfway and they sent new branches up absolutely straight up from the cut, nothing spread out or even vaguely horizontal, and ugly as sin. I hide them in the back now, since they’re in containers. I was hoping that something would come up from the base, as well, but no dice. I mean, they’re ugly. Is it too late to start again? What should I do? I have had a similar misfortune with a Butterfly bush, but not quite the same caliber of hideous. Anyone’s experience is appreciated. Thanks, Genata
