I usually cut back my Annabelles to about 8″ during the winter but was unable to do so this year. Consequently I now have long straggly old stems full of new buds. Can I safely cut these back? Will I sacrifice blooms? (I am in Zone 7.)
Since Annabelle blooms on new wood, I don’t see a problem with it too much. You might not get as many blooms this year, but you should get plenty of growth and blooms later in the season, and the sooner you prune the better. Good Luck!
