Sounds like tough conditions that many plants would have issues with. This is a pretty tough shrub, and if it doesn’t like the spots perhaps better to select shrubs that can handle wet…but they won’t have the same showiness of Hybiscus syriacus. What else grows well for you, by the way…what woody plants do thrive there?
