Thanks for giving such a full response. More specifically, my vibernum surround an elevated deck. They have grown too high, by about 2 feet (the fullness is fine, it’s just the height). I plan to prune them this weekend. I am not inclined to "shear" them, but they have to be cut back in height pretty severely. Should I "shear"? Cut branch by branch? Do I need to prune back the fullness as well?
