I have two beautiful willow shrubs–a Nishiki and Blue Arctic which have vastly outgrown their space. Cutting them down to the ground seems so final. Is it really all right to do so? Are we talking about 6″ or 1″? I’m used to some serious pruning, but the thought of cutting down a 10′ shrub does give me pause.
