Thank you for your advice! Most of the surrounding trees and shrubs are, unfortunately, on my neighbor’s property (small lot) but I’ll see if I can thin out some branches right near the lilacs. I think I may wait until next year to decide about the rejuvenation, once I know my garden and its light conditions a bit better.
