I garden on a friend’s roof in Manhattan. Yes, you can grow herbs on your roof, for sure. Mulch is my advice- and water deeply. However, in my experience, when it gets as hot as its been the last few days, watering every day is essential if you want them to live. Over 90 degrees neccessitates more attention than usual. Conifers are hard to kill- try some of them on the roof. Take a look at what they’re growing on the High Line- it’s indigenous and easy to grow-
