Donna, Thanks so much for your response; I appreciate it. I have been thinking of hiring a tree pruner to take down the lower limbs of the Sugar Maple under which this Norway Spruce is planted. Also, I will go out tomorrow and look to buy the Davey Tree fertilizer you mentioned. This is very helpful information; I have been fertilizing this tree each week with shovel fulls of Milorganite – nitrogen plus iron – very helpful in keeping the deer out and perking up all the underplanted hostas.
