Which persicaria did you both plant? I have both Persicaria virginiana ‘Painter’s Palette’ and Persicaria bistorta ‘Superba." Neither are huge plants. Both are good groundcovers: the bistorta spreads with runners, the virginiana has seedlings that sprout in odd places. But, in five years I haven’t had a problem.
