The key to what Leslie says is “if they were stored correctly,” which doesn’t mean in the garage or in the heated house. :) If they’re shriveled or moldy they probably won’t thrive…and also remember that many bulbs (daffodils, tulips) need a chill period (winter) to root in well and perform, which they were probably deprived.
It’s worth trying, but hard to say what the result will be. An experiment!
