I’m voting for a traditional raised bed for your garlic, as garlic doesn’t tolerate any weed competition and you will get a reduced yield if it has to complete with what might not get smothered or break down in time. Feed your garlic as greens start to grow in earnest in the spring, and keep the rows weeded.
