I just got mushroom compost to use in my herb/veg garden. Can I plant straight into it or should I let it sit a little while? I’ve got a soil test kit that I was going to use to check it to see if I needed to add anything to it.
I have used mushroom compost straight and without waiting often in my veg garden with much success, but since each mushroom grower has their own recipe and composting method my experience might not predict what yours will be. Here is a mushroom compost caution.
Thanks for your help Leslie. I called my soil guy this morning to check on the mix and to see exactly what I got and found out it’s straight mushroom compost. I thought I was getting a mix of topsoil and the compost but it’s straight compost. Think I can plant in that? or should I go get some topsoil?
