Unless you fried it in baking sun in its pot without watering for weeks, you didn’t do the killing…it might have already been on its way. Boxwood do get various blights and depending on what happened exactly, you can perhaps figure out the culprit with yours: http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/hgic2052.htm Take the dead plant back to your garden center for a refund. I expect all of that batch met the same demise.
