I have a Black Dragon in my garden which is three years old. Today, while cleaning out the leaves at its base, I noticed little “puffs” coming off its branches. On closer inspection, I saw some browning of branches and a whitening of what I think are little cones along the branches. These seem to be emitting the puffs of probably pollen? My question is does this sound normal to you? I have not noticed the plant doing this in past years. Does this plant have common diseases I should keep an eye out for? I don’t notice insect activity of any kind.
