Last week, both my spinach and bok choy bolted before they ever amounted to much. I planted them in soil nicely mulched with well rotted manure and I’m wondering if the soil was just too rich? Or was it those very few days of hot weather we had in the Northeast? Mid-June just seems too early for bolting.
Meanwhile, the "Salad Bowl" variety of lettuce I planted is doing magnificently well as are the various mesclun mixes all of which were also planted in the same nicely mulched soil.
Any advice is appreciated. Hated to lose my two favorite early summer vegetables.
