This is not in reference to my own fruit tree, but I figured someone on this great site would know the answer to my question. In the last few years I’ve noticed tiny black speckles on local apples (I am in Massachusetts), including on almost all of the Macouns we picked at an orchard last weekend. They are tiny pinpoint sized dots, grouped together in patches. They sometimes will scrape off if you scrape them with a fingernail. Anyone know what these are? Some kind of fungus?
