Re: What are your 2010 Tomato choices?
This year: Black Cherry, Sungold, Cosmonaut Volkov, Corne de Bouc, Striped German, Garden Peach and Matt’s Wild Cherry. This year I decided to just stick with favorites that I have grown before (although I will probably end up buying a couple plants of whatever catches my eye at the local Agway which sells interesting varieties of organic veg seedlings). I like to have a nice mix of colors in the cherry size so that they look pretty in a bowl, Corne de Bouc is excellent for sundrying and Garden peach always produces a bumper crop for sauce or eating fresh off the vine while tying up the vines.
A couple years ago I grew Black from Tula. It was very tasty but seemed to crack at the shoulders much more than my other tomatoes. Now that I am thinking of it I think I will go see if I have any seeds left; it would be nice to have a dark tomato to mix with the Striped German and Cosmonaut Volkov in a tomato and mozzarella salad. Yum.
