Re: native honeysuckle caterpillars
In this area the buds of our Lonicera sempervirens are periodically infested with aphids which causes the buds to blacken. Check out Margaret’s honeysuckle post for what this looks like and how to deal with it. Found a picture of the snowberry clearwing moth on BugGuide.net eating the leaves of Lonicera sempervirens. Not sure if it eats the flowers; could this be it? Another pic here.
