AFTER HIS sold-out spring seed-starting workshop, Ken Greene of Hudson Valley Seed Library is returning to Copake Falls, New York, to join me for a daylong workshop covering the “other” end of the growing season. Learn succession sowing, seed-saving and season-extending, and more, including:
- planting the fall vegetable and herb garden, with successions now through November (true!)
- we’ll cover a range of crops that get planted now or in fall, from poppies to peas and pea shoots, spinach and salads to scallions, garlic, mache, root vegetables and more
- growing under cover (including hands-on demos of all the gear and how to use it)
- saving seeds, from both vegetable and flowers
- learn how to store seeds (including store-bought leftovers) to keep them freshest
- learn how to test your stashed seed for viability
- plus: seed swap! (Ken will bring goodies to share, and all are welcome to bring leftover packaged seed or any homegrown seed to swap)
Our “classroom” will be Margaret’s garden and her next-door “office.” Light breakfast and full lunch will be served. Limited to 12 people. Tickets:
