‘Winter Gold’ isn’t really gold, but more of a pinkish-coral, and delightfully garish as its leaves go yellow before falling. This 1984 cultivar was discovered as a sport on old plants of ‘Winter Red’ at Simpson Nursery in Indiana. As with all of the non-red winterberries, I find that the birds leave this for later, eating the true reds first.
