Eurphorbia griffithii ‘Dixter,’ named for the home and garden of the late Christopher Lloyd in East Sussex, England, is perhaps 24 to 36 inches high and spreads confidently but not dangerously in my garden after many years. All the plant’s parts, from stems to foliage to flowers, feature hot tones of reddish and orange beginning in May for me. Digging Dog carries it (see sources).

I live in zone 4 (north colonie) will the Eurphorbia griffithii (Dixter) grow in my zone? I love the color I’m working on a shade garden, and looking for a variety of different plants.
Welcome, Michelle. It’s supposed to be Zone 4 hardy, and I want to say it grows really strongly here (for like 10 years) so why not try? Sometimes only trial and error (or success) is the way to know. It didn’t do much at first, and then (weed that it proves to be, like so many euphorbias) it took off. Come visit it May 31 at Open Days and see.
