farfugium japonicum ‘giganteum’

I lost my original plant of what I still call a Ligularia a few years ago (damn those taxonomists for renaming all my favorites!). But I bought another one this year, thanks to Plant Delights (in my Sources), and its large, shiny leaves are everything I remember. It’s in spot in a shady area, and since it’s a Zone 8 creature (and I am a Zone 5 creature) we will have a talk in a bit about where it will spend the winter: houseplant, basement semi-dormancy, or ??? Unrivaled for its foliar beauty, with a natural coat of shellac-shininess built right in.
