Speaking of organic mulch…and using local material Recently, I have had a few trees cut down on my property. I had the option of having the tree’s removed or keeping them, chipped by the wood chipper of course! I chose to keep the chips for future mulching. How long does it take for these to break down? I was told new chips take nitrogen out of the soil – wait about a year or so and then I can use them on my gardens. Does anyone have any info about this matter? or should I say ‘organic matter’… tsk tsk
