Re: shrubs for shade
I am trying to identify a shrub that is native grower in SE New York woods. It has long woody stems with thorns – small bright green leaves lining both sides of the stem. There are tiny flowers blooming along stems in April. It grows to about 4 feet high by 4 feet wide with the stems arching out haphazardly in all directions. It grows in light shade and the deer don’t touch it. Please tell me its name.
