Figs in containers can either be moved to a garage or basement that stays cool but above freezing after they have gone dormant (lost their leaves) in the fall or they can be moved before they go dormant to a sunroom where they will receive lots of light all winter long. If you are wintering them over while dormant, make sure not to overwater. Just keep the soil damp enough that it won’t blow away. If you are overwintering inside, the figs need plenty of light to help prevent insect outbreaks, but depending on the variety they may produce figs all winter long.
