
OVER HERE IN MY CORNER OF THE EARTH we call it the godlight, the kind of light there’s no explaining other than to call it that. That slanted light that makes elongated, high-drama shadows and turns everything warm and glowing. So when it shone the other afternoon I thought hey, let’s just snap and post a photo of the godlight and see if it’s shining anywhere else this spring? Any sightings? (Note: This light is non-denominational, hence the lower-case “g.” All are welcome to witness it. And this photo’s worth clicking, by the way…better bigger.)

WE ARE TURNING TWO MONTHS OLD THIS WEEK, “we” being me and the team here at A Way to Garden (Nikon, Mac, Kubota, and all those creatures with the Latin names). We promise to stop pestering you with anniversary announcements, but it’s good to make offerings of gratitude so here we go: Thanks to the nearly 12,000 individuals who have found their way here so far (up from 3,300 “uniques” the first month). Apparently properly planted, we are growing

peace on earth
WHEN I WENT DOWN TO MAKE TEA the other morning, there was a peace rally going on in the kitchen. This sometimes-angry guy was just waking up, too, after slumbering atop my 1970s stone peace symbol on the windowsill. I escorted him to freedom in a dish towel, and he was off…presumably to spread the word about peace among the races. If a wasp can get this message, then why not us?
